Consil Brand Identity
Consil required a name, identity and brand developed after the team’s work had garnered international interest.
They had produced some ground-breaking research and content; including unprecedented footage from protected sites such as Antarctica, a talk by their leader Dr. Barbara Breen at TEDxAuckland and being featured in the National Geographic documentary Continent 7: Antarctica.
The brand needed to be inclusive of their team’s range of expertise and adequately convey them in a professional and commercial manner, speaking to the services they provide to a number of industries and the global scope of their work.
After meeting and engaging discussion on how the group should market themselves, we decided on the name ‘Consil’, an acronym for Conservation & Spatial Innovation Lab. I then examined common elements in the presentation of companies across the four industries that Consil covered, using this research to inform how we would tie the themes together as one.
The end result is a clean and elegant logotype, a device within the letter ‘O’ encompasses the core themes of the group and the services they offer. As they were a group collaborating within AUT’s School of Science we chose a green that tied in with the university’s own branding and identity.
